If you've spent any time following the Make Peace With Life blog, you've probably noticed one thing...

I have a soft spot for Bigfoot.

Not because I necessarily believe he's hiding behind every tree.

But because Bigfoot represents something we've been losing in modern life...

Mystery.

And if you ever find yourself traveling through Oregon, there is one stop that belongs on your itinerary.

The North American Bigfoot Center in the wonderfully named town of Boring, Oregon.

Honestly...

A museum about Bigfoot in a town called Boring?

That's already funny enough to deserve a visit.

Spoiler alert...

It's anything but boring.

Welcome to Bigfoot Country

Oregon is one of the most beautiful states I've ever visited.

Towering Douglas fir trees.

Waterfalls.

Mountain peaks.

Crystal-clear rivers.

Miles upon miles of dense forests.

If Bigfoot were going to pick a vacation home...

I'd imagine Oregon would be near the top of the list.

Whether Sasquatch exists or not, these forests certainly make you feel like anything could be hiding around the next bend.

That's part of their magic.

What Is the North American Bigfoot Center?

The North American Bigfoot Center is dedicated to exploring one of North America's greatest mysteries.

Inside you'll find:

• Bigfoot casts and footprint evidence.
• Hair samples and physical evidence collected over decades.
• Historical reports and eyewitness accounts.
• Life-sized Bigfoot displays.
• Interactive exhibits.
• Beautiful educational displays about the forests where sightings occur.
• Plenty of fascinating theories surrounding the legend.

The museum doesn't try to force you into believing.

Instead...

It invites you to ask questions.

And I love that approach.

Home of "Finding Bigfoot"

If you're a fan of the television show Finding Bigfoot, you'll feel right at home.

The museum was founded by Cliff Barackman, one of the longtime investigators featured on the hit Animal Planet series.

If you've watched the show, you've probably seen Cliff hiking through forests, examining tracks, interviewing eyewitnesses, and trying to separate genuine evidence from wishful thinking.

The museum feels like an extension of that same curiosity.

It doesn't claim to have all the answers.

It simply encourages exploration.

And honestly...

That's a pretty metaphysical approach.

Evidence... or Excellent Storytelling?

One of my favorite things about visiting is seeing all the evidence in one place.

Footprints.

Castings.

Photographs.

Historical reports.

Audio recordings.

Whether every piece convinces you or not isn't really the point.

The real question becomes...

"What if?"

Sometimes asking good questions is far more interesting than pretending we already have every answer.

Let's talk about one of my favorite parts...

Now, you know I love a good souvenir.

The North American Bigfoot Center delivers.

You'll find:

• Hats.
• Books.
• Stickers.
• Coffee mugs.
• Plush Sasquatches.
• Artwork.
• Collectibles.
• Educational material.

It's impossible to leave empty-handed...

Unless, of course, Bigfoot steals your wallet.

Oregon and Bigfoot Just Belong Together

There are places where legends simply fit.

Scotland has Nessie.

England has King Arthur.

Transylvania has Dracula.

And Oregon?

Oregon has Bigfoot.

The endless forests create an atmosphere where mystery feels perfectly natural.

Standing among those giant trees, you can't help but wonder...

"Could something still be out there?"

Maybe.

Maybe not.

But it's certainly fun imagining.

Bigfoot Is the Spokesperson for Nature

Here's my metaphysical take.

I think Bigfoot has become something much bigger than a mysterious creature.

He represents our connection to wilderness.

He reminds us there are still places where nature remains in charge.

He reminds us that we haven't solved every mystery.

In an age where almost every question can be answered with a quick internet search...

Bigfoot reminds us that wonder is still alive.

I think we need more of that.

The Energy of Mystery

One thing I've learned over the years is that mystery creates energy.

It sparks imagination.

Conversation.

Adventure.

Curiosity.

Children naturally ask questions.

Adults often stop asking them.

Bigfoot gives us permission to wonder again.

And maybe that's one of the greatest gifts any legend can offer.

What If...

Here's a fun exercise.

Imagine Bigfoot does exist.

Would he want us cutting down every forest?

Probably not.

Would he encourage us to appreciate nature?

I'd like to think so.

Would he remind us to unplug our phones every now and then and simply walk through the woods?

Absolutely.

Maybe Bigfoot's greatest lesson has nothing to do with proving his existence.

Maybe it's encouraging us to spend more time outdoors.

Making Peace With Life

Whether you're a true believer...

A complete skeptic...

Or somewhere happily wandering through the middle...

The North American Bigfoot Center is worth your time.

You'll laugh.

You'll learn.

You'll ask questions.

You'll leave with a souvenir or two.

Most importantly...

You'll walk away remembering that life doesn't have to explain everything.

Some mysteries deserve to remain mysterious.

Some forests deserve to remain wild.

And some legends become bigger than whether they're true or false.

They become symbols.

For me...

Bigfoot has become a symbol of curiosity, adventure, imagination, and our deep connection to the natural world.

And in a world that's always rushing toward the next answer...

Maybe what we really need is another good mystery.

So if you ever find yourself driving through Boring, Oregon...

Do yourself a favor.

Stop by the North American Bigfoot Center.

Take your time.

Look at the evidence.

Talk with the staff.

Buy a Bigfoot T-shirt.

Then head out into one of Oregon's incredible forests.

Who knows...

You may not find Bigfoot...

But I have a feeling you'll find a little more peace.

And that's another wonderful way to Make Peace With Life.
